It is no surprise that electric cleaning tools have surged in popularity, promising to do the heavy lifting for us.
One such device gaining attention is the Ewbank EP170. As consumers look for ways to streamline their chores, many are asking: is the Ewbank EP170 Scrubber scam or legit? In this 2026 independent review, we will break down the product’s features, analyze its real-world performance, and look at the pros and cons to help you decide if it belongs in your cleaning cupboard.
What Is the Ewbank EP170 Scrubber?
The Ewbank EP170 is a cordless, handheld electric scrubbing tool designed for versatile home maintenance. Unlike heavy industrial floor buffers, this model is built for maneuverability. It typically comes with a variety of interchangeable brush heads—ranging from flat brushes for large surfaces to pointed brushes for corners—and a telescopic extension handle.
Marketed primarily as a solution for bathrooms and kitchens, it aims to bridge the gap between a manual sponge and a full-sized floor polisher. Its cordless nature allows users to move freely from the shower stall to the kitchen backsplash without worrying about proximity to a power outlet.
Marketing Claims & How It’s Supposed to Work

I have a wonderful family and a great … core appeal of the Ewbank EP170 lies in its mechanical rotation. The manufacturer claims that the high-torque motor provides deep-cleaning power that saves significant time and physical strain. Key advertised features include:
- Adjustable Reach: A telescopic handle designed to reach high wall tiles or low floor corners without bending.
- Multiple Speed Settings: Options to toggle between gentle cleaning and more vigorous scrubbing for tough stains.

- Versatile Attachments: Specialized heads for different textures, including scouring pads and soft bristles.
The idea is simple: the motor spins the brush head at a high RPM, allowing the bristles to agitate dirt and grime more effectively than human strength alone.
Independent Evidence & Red Flags
When investigating whether the Ewbank EP170 Scrubber scam or legit concerns are valid, it is important to look past the glossy advertisements. While the product is a legitimate household appliance from an established brand, there are “red flags” common to the electric scrubber category that users should note:
- Battery Longevity: Some users find that the lithium-ion battery life doesn’t always match the “up to 60 minutes” often seen in marketing, especially when high pressure is applied.
- Torque Limits: A common complaint is that the motor may stall or slow down significantly if the user presses too hard against a surface.
- Replacement Parts: Finding specific replacement brush heads can sometimes be more difficult or expensive than initially anticipated.
- Exaggerated “Effortless” Claims: While it assists in cleaning, it is not a “magic wand.” Heavily calcified lime scale will still require appropriate chemical cleaners; the brush alone won’t disappear years of neglect instantly.

The Positive: Many users praise the device for making bathroom maintenance easier, particularly for those with limited mobility or chronic pain. It excels at “maintenance cleaning”—keeping surfaces bright and preventing buildup before it becomes a major problem.
The Cautionary: On the flip side, some reviewers note that the bristles can fray after several heavy-duty uses. There is also a learning curve to managing the “kickback” of the spinning head on slippery surfaces. The consensus is that results vary based on the cleaning solution used alongside the device; the scrubber is a tool for agitation, not a replacement for effective detergents.
