Marketing Claims & How It’s Supposed to Work
The Polivac C27 is marketed as a “simply reliable” tool for maintaining hard floors and even shampooing carpets. Here are the primary claims made by the manufacturer:
- Deep Cleaning Power: With a 1.1kw motor and a brush speed of approximately 188 to 212 RPM (depending on the specific Gen II model), it provides significantly more torque than consumer-grade handheld scrubbers.
- Ergonomic Handling: It features a fully adjustable handle and a counter-balanced motor to prevent the “kickback” often felt when starting a rotary machine.
- Versatility: By switching between the pad holder and different brushes, it claims to handle vinyl, polished concrete, marble, granite, terrazzo, and carpet.

- Weight: At approximately 41kg to 50kg (90–110 lbs), this is a heavy machine. Unlike a lightweight stick scrubber, it requires significant strength to transport and maneuver, especially if your home has multiple levels or stairs.
- Learning Curve: “Swing machines” require a specific technique (lifting or lowering the handle to move the machine left or right). For a novice, this can be intimidating and potentially lead to wall or furniture damage if not controlled properly.
- Power Requirements: It is a corded machine (usually with a 15m heavy-duty lead). While this means infinite runtime, it also means managing a thick cable while you work.
Certifications
While Polivac is a well-established brand (ISO 9001 certified), most “reviews” found online are from industrial suppliers rather than independent household testing labs. This means the cleaning claims are based on professional use-cases rather than typical domestic settings.
User Experience & Real-World Feedback
Feedback from users generally highlights a “workhorse” reputation. Those who use the Polivac C27 for large tiled areas or garage floors often praise its ability to lift stains that handheld tools can’t touch.
- Positive Notes: Users appreciate the “no-kickback” start, which makes it feel safer than older industrial models. Professional cleaners frequently mention that parts are easy to source, which is a major plus for long-term ownership.
- Cautionary Notes: Some users find the noise level (75-85 dB) to be quite loud for indoor residential use. Others have noted that while the Polivac C27 Rotary Scrubber with Pad Holder reviews are mostly positive, the machine is overkill for small bathrooms or cramped laundry rooms where a smaller tool would fit better.
