However, it is limited by its 65-foot power cord and is not intended for carpeted surfaces or tight, multi-level residential spaces.
2. What Is the Trusted Clean Dura 17 Electric Auto Scrubber?
The Trusted Clean Dura 17 is an electric automatic floor scrubber, often referred to as a “walk-behind” machine. Unlike a simple mop or a small handheld spin brush, this machine combines scrubbing, solution dispensing, and dirty water recovery into a single pass.
Typical Use Cases:
- Commercial Hallways: Schools, office buildings, and medical clinics.
- Kitchens & Bathrooms: Deep cleaning large tiled areas where grease and grime accumulate.
- Retail & Storage: Maintaining smooth concrete or vinyl floors in storage racks and aisles.
3. How It Works
The machine simplifies floor maintenance through a synchronized mechanical process:

- High-Pressure Downward Force: Applies 70 lbs. of pressure to the floor, significantly more than manual scrubbing.
- Cord-Electric Motor: Powered by a 1 HP brush motor and a 1⁄2 HP vacuum motor, connected via a 65-foot safety yellow cord for “unlimited” runtime.
- Interchangeable Heads: Can be equipped with different floor pads (stripping, scrubbing, or polishing) or a specialized nylon brush for uneven surfaces.
- Integrated Vacuum System: A rear squeegee assembly sucks up the dirty solution immediately, leaving floors dry to the touch.
4. What It Claims to Do
The primary promise of the Trusted Clean Dura 17 is to reduce manual scrubbing effort by up to 1400% compared to a traditional mop and bucket. It is designed to:

5. Real-World Performance
Our 2026 performance test revealed that the Trusted Clean Dura 17 is a “workhorse” with specific strengths:

- Struggles with Heavy Buildup: While the 70 lbs. of pressure is high for its class, extremely old, “caked-on” wax or industrial epoxy spills may require a pre-treatment chemical or multiple passes.
- Depends on Brush Type: Performance varies wildly based on the pad used. A red pad is perfect for daily cleaning, while a black pad is necessary for stripping old finishes.
6. Pros and Limitations
| Pros | Limitations |
|---|---|
| Saves Effort: Eliminates the back-breaking labor of manual mopping. | Battery Life: This is a corded model; there is no battery, so you are tethered to an outlet. |
| Easy to Use: Fingertip controls make it accessible for non-professional users. | Power Limits: 150 RPM is steady but not fast enough for high-speed “burnishing” or polishing. |
| Quick Drying: The vacuum recovery means no “Wet Floor” wait times. | Size: At 154 lbs, it is difficult to transport between floors without an elevator. |
7. Who It’s Best For
The Trusted Clean Dura 17 is ideal for regular home cleaning of large estates or small-to-medium commercial facilities. If you have more than 2,000 square feet of hard flooring, this machine provides a level of sanitation a mop cannot match. It is not ideal for deep restoration cleaning of neglected, decades-old floors, which might require a heavy-duty 20-inch orbital machine.
8. FAQ Section
Do electric scrubbers really work?
Yes. By combining mechanical friction, chemical solution, and immediate suction, they remove significantly more bacteria and dirt than a mop, which often just redistributes dirty water.
Are spin scrubbers worth it?
If you are comparing this to a small handheld spin scrubber, the Trusted Clean Dura 17 is a significant upgrade. It is worth the investment for anyone maintaining large floor areas who wants to save hours of labor.
Can they clean grout effectively?
When equipped with the optional nylon grit brush, the Dura 17 is very effective at reaching into grout lines that flat pads might miss.
How long does the battery last?
The Dura 17 is a corded electric model, meaning it has unlimited runtime as long as it is plugged into a 120V outlet.
Are they better than manual cleaning?
In terms of consistency and hygiene, yes. Manual cleaning relies on the physical strength of the operator, whereas the Trusted Clean Dura 17 maintains a constant 70 lbs. of pressure throughout the entire job.
9. Verdict
The Trusted Clean Dura 17 is a practical, rugged entry into the world of automatic floor care. It doesn’t offer the “bells and whistles” of autonomous robotic scrubbers, but it delivers professional results at a fraction of the cost.
